Excel
Excel is an expatriate in Malaysia and currently works in the automotive industry, engaged in retail, after sales and other services.
He started his career in 1997 as a BMW Technician and then moved up to become Automotive Electrical Engineer there. He is currently the Product Engineer that manages a technical team that installs GPS Tracking Devices for High End Vehicles.
Excel has done studies on electric vehicles and as a result, conceptualized and put into writing an innovation that would change our way of producing electricity. This is pertaining to power generators that would consume less fuel compared to the existing equipment in this industry.
He is very passionate about understanding and studying the automotive industry specifically vehicle technical aspect and accessories.
NYC
Born in the ‘rice bowl’ state of Malaysia, NYC’s passion for cars started during his pre-school days where his favourite pass time was to identify passing cars. His first contact with motor grease was when he had to assist his dad with their then Datsun 1200 which is still running fine and dandy even today! NYC started getting into writing when he was tasked by the school board to construct and manage the school’s first website.
NYC is happily married and currently resides in the island state of Penang. Labeled by his friends as a DIY person, he likes to get his hands on fixing computers, vehicle maintenance and repairs, household plumbing, electrical works, cooking and sewing. His latest love, apart from his wife and his passion for the automotive industry, is photography.
Randy Tie
Randy currently lives in Miri with his beloved wife. Apart from his spouse, he loves all things related to cars especially minis and hatchbacks. He current drive a hatchback himself but is already aiming for his dream car – the Toyota MRS.
Besides cars, Randy is passionate about writing, computer related stuff such as gaming, programming and graphic design. What’s unique about Randy? Well, he’s got a thing for crossbows!
Naz360
‘Having sisters and no brothers in your family effects who we are indirectly’ says Naz. ‘My three sisters are not into cars, so my dad tends to teach me everything about cars. Since I was a teenager, he shared his passion towards cars and in the end I was into it too.’
Her dad often told stories to his friends about her experiences with cars. Her first car was a 1992 Proton Iswara, which she still believes is the best car she’s had to date. It became a personal project for Naz and her dad to modify and experiment. As you can tell, Naz is a really hands on type of girl. Although she doesn’t drive the Iswara anymore, the good news is she’s traded up for a better ride.
Naz is a woman, in love with cars.
MFI
Having loved cars since his childhood, MFI spent his kindertgarten years drooling over a neighbours 1984 W126 280SE. Currently working in the publishing industry, his love for cars and driving in general has yet to subside.
Besides cars, fishing, tennis and guitars are what keeps his motor running. Idle time is often spent camping, surfing the net, drooling over pictures of his dream car (R107 300SL), or simply watching the world go by. MFI also Loves to drive the picturesque back lanes of semenyih when time permits. Currently drives and loves his 04′ Perodua kelisa, regardless of what a certain Mr Clarkson would say.
Tim Syrlac
Tim is an expatriate who has lived in Malaysia for over 10 years and has a strong consulting background as well as a passion for motorsports and all things related to the automotive industry. Tim leverages on his IT & Web consulting experience to provide the occasional advisory services to his good friends, the good folks who run Carlist.my, who in return has allowed Tim the opportunity to voice his views and opinions with the inception of The Wheel Deal – the official Carlist.my blog.
In his free time, Tim loves reading, playing poker, hosting barbecues, drinking wine. Apart from following F1, Tim is constantly hooked to ESPN and StarSports on the weekends following the Barclay’s Premier League games. When asked what his favourite team is, he just coyly replied ‘well, it aint blue that’s for sure!’
