New Kia K9 Makes its Market Debut in South Korea

Kia’s all-new luxury flagship sedan is now officially available for sale in Korea. It is known as the “K9″ in Korea. However, the new flagship sedan will have a different name in overseas markets.

Engine and specification:

The K9 is offered in Korea with two petrol engines. Equipped with 3.3-liter V6 petrol engine, it has a capacity to deliver 296 HP of maximum power. Another engine is equipped with twin DOHC 3.8-litre Lambda V6 engines with dual continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) and a variable intake system (VIS); it has a capacity to deliver 329 HP of maximum power. K9 is mated with Kia’s all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. Four driving modes are available such as Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow to allow the driver to choose a preferred model for various road conditions or driving styles.

It also features a suspension system with electronically controlled air suspension with five-link front and rear suspension geometry.

Exterior, Interior & Safety:

On the exterior, K9 has a long wheelbase which gives a generous first impression. With a 5,090 mm overall length and 3,045 mm wheelbase, K9 presents ample front and rear passenger space.  The car will be made with ultra-stiff bodyshell. K9 exterior is all about graceful simplicity, balanced proportions and plain surfaces.

Premium comfort features comprise a 12.3-inch full size Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LCD cluster, a HUD (head-up display), twin 9.2-inch monitors to entertain back seat occupants and an extraordinary 17-channel, 17-speaker Lexicon (by Harman) sound system. In addition, it comes with Smart Cruise Control (SCC) which adjusts the vehicle’s speed to maintain the distance from the vehicle in front.

In terms of safety, K9 comes with fully adaptive all-LED headlamps, Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), radar-based Blind-Spot Detection (BSD) and an Around-View Monitor (AVM) with four cameras depending on model.
