Another Mazda came to town! This time around, it’s the SUV – CX-5. While Mazda also sold the previous generation CX-5 in Malaysia, we can barely see one on our road. However, this CX-5 is set to change the scene, with already more than 600 bookings right after tha launching. There will be 2 variants for the CX-5, a 2WD and a AWD, where the former is priced at RM155k while the latter is priced at RM165k (OTR without insurance).
Seatbelt is one of the earliest inventions of car safety features. Since then, a lot of safety features such as airbags and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) has been developed to provide further protection and prevention against accident. However, seatbelt is considered as the prime safety feature, where we’ll suffer injury even if we have a dozen of airbags in the car but doesn’t buckle up our seatbelt. Yes you’ve read the title properly! It’s a whooping 2617km journey on a single diesel tank in a Volkswagen Passat TDI! Driven by John and Helen Taylor, they’ve set a new record for travelling the farthest distance on a single tank of fuel. I would say the couple did it again, because they broke their own previous record which is set in a Passat 1.6 BlueMotion with a distance of 2457km.

I’ve been using this car for almost one year. Yes, it’s a Toyota Corolla Altis which is 10 years old in the year 2012. Bought it last year at a price cheaper than a brand new Myvi 1.5SE, where I would say it’s a bargain eventhough I’ve spent a sum of money to refurbish the engine and other parts of the car due to wear and tear.
The Mitsubishi Mirage has been spotted with minimal disguise in Malaysia recently and there are hints that it will be available in Malaysia soon. But do you think it is wise for Mitsubishi to bring this little car into our market? Yes, it might be a reliable (since it’s a Mitsubishi) and efficient city car, but there are few things which might make the Mirage unfavourable in Malaysia.
For the first time I didn’t go for a test drive eventhough I have the chance, and for the first time I was in the back seat as a passenger while my friend was in the driver seat. The reason is simply, yet embarrassing – the test unit has manual transmission. There was I, together with my friend Tony, went for a test drive for the Honda CR-Z. While currently only manual transmission is available for the CR-Z, the sales advisor told us that the CVT transmission CR-Z will be available around June.
