Castrol Launches Malaysia’s First CARAMA Online Car Care Portal

Castrol has extended its service beyond the lubricant business with the launch of a new web and mobile-enabled portal –‘Carama’, Malaysia’s first online car care service that simplifies car care, maintenance and workshop guide to ultimately rebuild the trust between workshops and their valued customers.

The new initiative is driven by Castrol following a recent survey that highlights workshops’ need to build a trusting relationship with car owners. The Carama Certified Shops are being established to address the grey zone of workshops credibility, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality, skills, transparency, customer service, and health and safety compliance.

Sumeet Wadhwa, the General Manager of Castrol Innoventures (the strategic innovation arm of Castrol) said, “Car owners have a high level of concern and uncertainty regarding maintenance costs, price and quality of repair for their vehicles. Carama will streamline the selection process and provide car owners peace-of-mind and confidence that they have made the right decision in their choice of the workshop.”

CARAMA Portal Features

Speaking of the new initiative, Wadhwa asserted, “Carama is envisioned to be the ‘go to’ site for car cares in Malaysia, although we are still in the early stages of the portal’s development.” The Carama portal provides features such as accredited repair shop locator, spare parts calculator, my car logbook and Carama rewards.

As Malaysia’s first social car care portal, customers can share car maintenance tips and reviews of the Carama Certified Shops with the community. Furthermore, the portal could also benefit independent workshops and mechanics that lack marketing capability, generating valuable business leads for them.

With the one-stop web and mobile enabled platform, Managing Director of Castrol InnoVentures, Roy Williamson envisions Camara to become the number one player in aftermarket car care and service space, leveraging on Castrol’s strong customer relationships.

“We are confident that Carama will change the aftermarket car care experience for all car owners, simplifying the maintenance of their car,” Williamson added.
