2013 Kia Rio to hit Malaysia In January

The South Korean based automaker Kia will be officially launching the new Rio generation in Malaysia in January, 2013. The car will be available here in five-door hatchback form. The stylish compact model will come with a number of safety and convenience features.

 Engine and specification:

 The car is equipped 1.4 liter MPI DOHC with CVVT Gamma engine; it has a capacity to deliver 109 PS of maximum power and 136 Nm of torque. The car is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The Rio will boast fuel consumption of 8.4 l/100km city.

 Exterior, Interior & Safety:

The B-segment Rio has grown, and the new one’s wheelbase has been extended by 70 mm to 2,570 mm. In addition, the model has a storage space in the boot of 288 liters. In general, the new Rio generation is now 55 mm longer and 25 mm wider. On the other hand, new Rio’s height has been decreased by 15 mm for a sportier look.

 The model will be available in Malaysia in two trim levels; the EX and the SX. Both trims get LED Daytime Running Light (DRL), High Mounted Stop Lamp, electric folding and adjustable wing mirrors with LED signal lamps, leather wrap steering wheel and more.

According to Kia, the EX spec car will be getting a set of 16 inch alloy wheels. As for the type SX, this model is offered with a set of 17 inch alloy wheels, fog lights, sunroof, push-button start aluminum pedals.

In terms of safety, Kia Rio comes with six airbags (dual front, side and curtain airbags) and ISOFIX for better protection. Other safety features include Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Hill-Assist Control (HAC) and Electronic Sound Synthesis (ESS) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM).
