Peugeot 308VTi and Turbo Variants Facelifted

By 11 months ago

Since its January 2009 launch, close to 5000 units of the 308 have been sold by the official Peugeot distributor, Nasim Sdn Bhd. Up to this point in 2012, 700 units of the hatchback have been bought; these figures gives the 308 a 42 per cent share among the European C-segment hatchbacks in Malaysia. With the new facelifted 308 VTi and 308 Turbo models, the interest for this model will be rejuvenated.

One of the most significant enhancements with the new 308 lies with its exterior aesthetics. It features a new dynamic and elegant look with a “floating grille” concept that is also available on the 508 and new LED day-time running lights which gives the new 308 a unique visual signature. The panoramic roof is available in both variants as well as the auto dual-zone air conditioning with rear blowers, cruise control and USB/Bluetooth connectivity. The Turbo is also fitted with an original 308 GTi spoiler.

No changes for the twin-scroll turbocharged 1.6 litre engine, it still produces 156bhp and 240Nm (Turbo variant) while the VTi gets it on with 120bhp and 160Nm; neither is there any difference to the Tiptronic gearbox.

The VTi variant now comes with new ‘Santiaguito’ 16 inch alloy wheels while the 308 Turbo comes with the ‘Melbourne’ 17 inch units. Airbags are standard at the front and side together with ABS and EBA; the Turbo includes some extras including two curtain airbags, ESP and DSC.

The OTR price (with insurance) for the new 308 VTi is RM102,888 while the 308 Turbo is RM121,888. Both variants come with a market leading five-year warranty with unlimited mileage, lifetime 24 hours Peugeot assistance and exclusive Peugeot Privilege membership as standard.
