Peugeot 408 launched in Malaysia

At last, the Peugeot 408 has made its Malaysian market debut recently. The 408 comes in two variant forms, the Turbo and 2.0.The C-segment sedan 408 Turbo is priced at RM125, 888 and the 2.0 is priced at RM109, 888.  Both prices are on the road, with insurance.

Engine and specification:

The 408 Turbo is equipped with 1.6 litre THP twin scroll turbo engine; it has a capacity to deliver 163 hp of maximum power at 240 Nm of torque. It is mated to the AT6 six-speed auto adaptive transmission with Tiptronic and a sport mode. This sedan is able of 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, before reaching a top speed is 215 km/h.

The 408 2.0 is equipped with EW10A+ normally-aspirated four-cylinder 2.0 litre engine; it has a capacity to deliver 145 hp of maximum power at 200 Nm of torque. . It is mated to an AT8 auto adaptive gearbox which also has Triptronic and a sport mode. This sedan is able of 0-100 km/h in 12.5 seconds, before reaching a top speed is 195 km/h.

In terms of suspension, 408 Turbo’s is being tuned for a sportier ride and the 2.0’s suspension offers more comfort.

Exterior, Interior & Safety:

Nasim has included a set of 17-inch eight-spoke Melbourne wheels of the dimension 225/45 for the Turbo while 2.0 comes with a  set of 17-inch five-spoke Rinjani alloys wheels of the dimension 215/50.

In the interior, the premium leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with aluminium inserts are comfortable and offer better driving.

In terms of safety, both variants come with anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) to provide maximum protection for passengers. The 2.0, the variant comes with two airbags while 408 Turbo comes with six airbags including driver and front passenger side, front and rear curtain airbags. In addition, the 408 Turbo comes with an electronic stability programme (ESP), which features anti-slip regulation (ASR) and dynamic stability control (DSC) functions.
