Mitsubishi showcases Mirage at 2011 Tokyo Motor Show
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has at last showcased the 2012 Mirage at the Tokyo Motor Show. The 2012 Mirage is a subcompact hatchback. The design of the car focuses on compactness, affordability, and high fuel efficiency to fit the needs of emerging markets as a reasonably priced entry-level model. The new Mirage is supposed to go on sale first in Thailand in March 2012. It is since the Mirage is designed as a world car therefore it would also be sold around the globally in two markets, in developing countries and developed countries.
Engine and specification:
Equipped with a new, 1.0L 3-cylinder MIVEC with Auto Stop & Go (AS&G). The engine utilizes the Mitsubishi’s MIVEC continuously variable valve timing to bring optimized engine performance over a wide speed range. It is mated to a CVT automatic transmission. The company is planning at achieving the best-in-class fuel efficiency levels of 30.0 km/litre.
Exterior, Interior & Safety:
The overall appearance is clean and sleek with a lightweight structure. Mirage features a slender grille, aerodynamic wheel covers and a roof-mounted spoiler. The five-door compact hatch measures in at 3710mm metres long, 1665mm wide and 1490mm metres of overall height. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has included a set of 14 inch alloy wheels low rolling-resistance tyres of the dimension 165/65 for the small car.
Inside, designers implemented a “simple & clean” philosophy which aims to provide the cabin a roomy feeling. The dashboard has been foreshortened a little to increase interior room. The instrument cluster has a sporty look. The central entertainment console is finished in glossy black, adding the feel of class.
In terms of safety, Mirage comes with three point seat belts and front air bags for crash safety for the customers. Hopefully, Mirage is able to meet the expectations and can offer happiness to the loyal customers of Mitsubishi.
