This coming December, Mazda will take the opportunity to showcase their all-new product at the Tokyo Motor Show. The concept car has been given the name Takeri, which according to the company can be labelled as a midsize sedan that is designed for the next generation. The announcement of the Takeri has made no indication that it has anything to do with the upcoming Mazda6 but nonetheless it has led many to speculate that the Takeri will give a clue to the upcoming model.
Usually ‘extreme’ features that are designed on concept cars will not find its way to the production models but Mazda’s designers seem to think otherwise. Besides, Mazda is already famous for their bold styling so such designs are not just an aesthetic feature but basically it is the company’s signature design. Such an example would be the designs that are found on the Mazda5 MPV, notice the waves located at the side of the doors. Such designs would not be practical but Mazda has made this its priority and have it included in the production models.
Mazda has also adopted a new design, ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ which will be evident in the Takeri but more importantly this design concept will be incorporated in the sedan styling which will bring a whole new level of appeal and power to the cars. If you are not sure what style is being mentioned here then the best way is to look at the Shinari concept car which was showcased the previous year as it heavily featured the new design language.
Fans of Mazda can take a sigh of relief as the SKYACTIV Technology present in previous models can also be found in the Takeri but more importantly the Zoom-Zoom character which has made the cars so exciting and charming to drive will not be missing as well. And of course, Mazda has not forgotten about their responsibility to the environment as it will still meet the demands to produce cars that have low fuel consumption and have cleaner emissions.
The theme which Mazda will use for this year at the Tokyo Motor Show is “Environmental Technology, Pushing the Boundaries of the Emotion of Motion”. The announcement of such a theme is not surprising as the company is committed in upgrading its technology development in terms of its environmental and dynamic performance which of course coincides with the Sustainable Zoom-Zoom long-term strategy. The fruition of these has appeared in the market of early this year.
