Nikkai In-car journey recorder

Onboard vehicle recording device or otherwise known as In-car journey recorder may seem irrelevant when you are driving your car, but on the other hand this device is very useful specifically during accidents and collision with other cars on the road.

Why is it so? Well it is very obvious that if this device had recorded your journey during a collision, you have solid evidence to present that it was not your fault in case you have to maintain your case in front of a jury and when it is your word against the other party.

Not to mention you could choose to record one of your memorable journeys especially during long trips for vacation going to kampung.

One of the popular brands of this device is ‘Nikkai’ which is equipped with a 1.3M CMOS image sensor powered by 2 AAA batteries for 4 hours of continuous utilization. This could also be supplied with a 12 VDC charger and holds up to SD card up to 2 GB memory capacity which will document 18 hours of video footage. The gadget records the road ahead and is mounted on the windshield of your car.

Since personally I have not tried to use the device, I would say that the gadget should not be turned ON manually by the driver every time the car is being used. That it should be automatically activated when the engine is ON since there is the possibility that the driver may tend to forget or may not start the in-car journey recorder.

The device would cost roughly RM 200 and could be purchased over the internet.
