Sideswipe transforms into a corvette stingray 2009 concept car

If you are a car fanatic and who lived your teenage years in the 80’s, then you would sure know the cartoon transformers series at that time in which it was made into movie series of today which debuted last 2007 and a sequel in the previous year.

Now, I know most of the kids of today who saw the movie loved ‘Optimus Prime’ and probably the teenagers and their Dads. Well, we’ll get to him later. Most likely the last blog I will make with in this series of articles – ‘Concept Cars used in Transformer Movies’.

Corvette Stingray Concept Car 2009

I will start up with ‘Sideswipe’. He is an autobot and was introduced in the second part of the movie which is ‘Transformers Revenge of the Fallen’. The robot has two wheels that becomes its’ feet and perhaps portrays as a ‘skater’, transforms into a ‘Corvette Stingray Concept Car 2009’ vehicle. His function in the movie was a combat instructor and ranked as number five with a motto – ‘loved the thrill of battle, but hate the notion of war.

The corvette stingray concept which is also referred to as ‘Corvette Centennial’ followed the line of models originally as  a racing car that debuted on 18 April 1959, that was built to test handling ease and performance manufactured by Chevrolet Motor Division under parent company General Motors Corporation. The car features scissor-style doors, clam shell hood, rear-view camera with night vision enhancement, high performance hybrid drive, ergonomic seats and interactive touch controls which was first displayed at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2009.

Although the car is loaded with a number of modern technology features, it is unlikely that this racing descendant of corvette stingray 1959 will make it in the production line and almost certainly we will not see it on the road in which it could not be the future of corvettes.

Did you know that the 1959 Corvette Stingray Racer was designed by GM President of Styling-Bill Mitchell and Larry Shinoda and that after its racing debut, ‘manufacturer sponsored racing’ was banned by the ‘Automobile Manufacturer’s Association’ in which the Stingray was relegated to test track duty?

Nevertheless, the line of Stingray models still continue until today and that another Stingray Concept Car in 2011 is on the way and who knows, it may appear on the third part of the movie series – ‘Transformers’!
