Another cool car used in the 2007 Transformer movie was the ‘Hardtop Pontiac Solstice GXP’. It is a Roadster Coupe from General Motors originating from its Pontiac Division. The earlier version of the car which is ‘Pontiac Solstice’ was introduced at the ‘North American International Auto Show in 2004. As a small sports car, it comes with an engine specifications of 2.4 L Ecotec LE5 I4 and 2.0 L Ecotec LNF I4, 177 hp with Turbocharged of up to 260 hp.
In the initial 10 days whereby the car became available, it received 7000 orders and 6000 successively. However, production was delayed at the ‘Wilmington Plant’ causing GM to apologize to customers and increasing production by 10,000 the succeeding month. Although it was nominated for the ‘North American Car of the year award from the ‘Automobile Journalist Association of Canada’ 2006, the Wilmington Assembly Plant which was closed on July 2009 caused the discontinuation of production for this vehicle.
The successor, which is the ‘Hardtop Pontiac Solstice GXP’, was first introduced at the ‘Los Angeles Auto Show’ in January 2006 and as what Pontiac claims; the GXP can reach 60 miles per hour with in 5.5 seconds. It comes with standard Summer tires on 18 inch wheels and features such as antilock brakes, a limited-slip differential, and Stabilitrak Traction Control.
The GXP coupe came with a concept car named ‘The GXP Solstice Coupe Concept’ and was revealed at the SEMA show of 2008.
Now, let’s talk about ‘Jazz’ – the autobot that transforms into a Pontiac. This character in the movie Transformers 2007 comes with a trademark which is his ‘Visor’. Jazz was described as having the passion for ‘hip hop’ personality creating his love for style. He is ranked eight in the autobot team with a motto ‘Do it with style or, don’t bother doing it’. Oh, and one other thing – When he transforms into car mode in the movie, he uses a ‘windmill dance move’ making him definitely an autobot with style.
Although stylish as he can be, Jazz was fearless and would attack even a much larger opponent like ‘Megatron’ (leader of the Decepticons). Sadly, he was ripped into two pieces at the end of the movie.
Well according to Hasbro Battle bio, it was revealed that Jazz was revived by Ratchet with a piece of the ‘Allspark’ (the cube that created the transformers).
