2010 Hyundai Tucson Price in Malaysia

By 3 years ago

Saw this nice looking compact SUV showcasing itself in Mid Valley over the weekend. With its sunroof and moonroof observed from the top floors, I was amazed that a car in this range would include that in Malaysia. The price was pretty reasonable in Malaysia with the 2.0 high specs price at RM136,888 (OTR price with Insurance). The 2010 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 will be powered by a 2.0 DOHC Dual CVVT outputing 166ps and 197 Nm / 4600rpm.

Price RM10k above the standard specification, the High Specs include Keyless Entry (Push Start Button), Leather Seats, iPod AUX in, Steering Wheel Audio Control, Panorama Sunroof, and ESP with HAC & DBC.

Sorry that I did not take any pictures as my D90 was not with me at that moment, but as observed from the pictures below, the exterior looks pretty much the same and interior too (except for the GPS panel is replace with radio panel).

One of its strong selling point is Hyundai Tucson fuel consumption which manufacturer claiming at 31 mpg (which I calculated to about 14cents/km) [Source]. But there is some contradiction as some actual users are hitting much higher fuel consumption at forum. Overall, most claim it is still better than other compact SUV but just not as good as advertise.

I also have the Malaysia price list and the specification sheet for Malaysia market scanned below

  1. This car is totally different from the previous Tucsons. It is designed in Germany seemingly.

  2. it just a nice SUV with a good performance & affordable price :)

  3. Hey guys, Took my Tucson 2.0 (A) high specs in 08/2010, mileage coming up to 20K. It’s a teriffic car, for its reliability, for the performance & unheard of features in its class for the price & unbeatable value, stylish etc. Mind you, its a CBU unit too. Never did have a single issue or problem until now. It’s getting RAV review the world over. If you go to Hyundai Tucson Wikepedia you will hv more info. This car is totally different from the previous Tucsons. It is designed in Germany seemingly, headed by the ex-Chief designer of Audi. Malaysian mentality always Japanese cars “better”, Korean cars “not good”?. Today’s Korean cars are world class. For info, Hyundai-Kia ranks 5th in the World in auto manufacturing/production in 2009 just trailing behind Ford, VW, GM and Toyota. Perhaps. in 2011, they may take the Top 3 in The World!. Except for Toyota & Honda, other Japanese makes don’t even smell the top 10. Suprising eh!

  4. I booked my tuscon last week, SA said i can get the car after 3 month.

  5. Hi Valens, the Tucson specs are very good and the design are very competitive. Hyundai cars are much better than before and if you like the car after the test drive, my advice is to go for it. The fuel consumption is normal for an SUV while I’m not sure about the maintenance.

  6. Hi Folks,
I am thinking to get Tucson by trade in my current Honda Accord (2.0 – 2005). Yes i got to wait for min of 6 months but luckily the sales personnel told me saying that they have ready stock last year Dec 2010 model… but my question is not about about that…but rather how about the performance, maintenance of this SUV…. Any idea/tips guys?

  7. Pricing really varies a lot depending on different locations. I found your post really informative one. Thanks mate! I think cars with advanced accessories like the roof racks or so, makes the car extremely posh and thus pricing again varies (although in the same location). Thanks!

  8. Undoubtedly, and with a tinge of adulation….. after having read all the comments, the whiners far outnumber the admirers. Granted, the new Tucson(..with a sexy sounding pronunciation of a place in the USA) is a fabulous SUV. But, I got to give it to you guys, buying a vehicle outside the sphere of either a Honda or a Toyota, is a no brainer* in Malaysia.
For a moment of tempest or other reasons, an indifferent choice of car manufacturer is made! Contemplate the resale value( i.e if one can look beyond the monetize factor).
No less agonizing is the considerable waiting period for delivery. There must be a valid reason for the downtime; but why wait when one can afford it, and when there’s a whole array of different makes..all chasing after the same consumer ‘ringgit’?
Timing is everything! Who’s to say 6 months down the road that somebody won’t come up with something even nicer; or that some hunk won’t sweep a heroine off her feet and buys her a Cheyenne?
Me think RM 136K is hardly premium, and the next time one goes ‘shopping’, please survey the market…do some homework! Be inquisitive!
Don’t fault the sales professionals, because they’re single-minded in their pursuit to mandate sales. Most of them subscribe to the mantra: ‘What you don’t know wouldn’t hurt you.’ A good salesman would explore all your options with you, balance your needs; and hopefully weigh all the pluses and negatives; which in turn helps you to arrive at an optimal decision! It always helps if the dude has a stable of other cars to sell.
Furthermore, try to be clear about what options in a car that are particular important and plenty nice to have! And if it’s not a factory sourced OE, have them outsourced as part of the bargaining process.
Don’t knock oneself over something like a displaced auto speed system(maybe the honcho overlooks its importance and not include it for the Malaysian market?) that may value at an equivalent of only a sumptuous TGIF JD steaks’ dinner! As for the blue tooth, I get ‘blue’ from oxygen starvation when the system tries to manipulate me, and not the other way around! A free piece of advice- get the stand alone ones from Sony Ericsson.
Ultimately, it boils down to shielding oneself from the trials and tribulations of life. We pick and choose our friends, learn things as we move along, and be the wiser for it! Who knows, perhaps, the next vehicle would be the all conquering RX350, where even the brochures read like a children’s nighttime story book, stroking in this case,an adult sized ego to sleep!
    * pardon the expression

  9. agreed with Tusco, i’ve booked thie car on MAY 2010, still no any respon from Hyundai sales office….

  10. i booked my tuscon at beginning of may tis year when it was first launched
and todate i still have not got the car
i have been told by the SA to speak to the manager who will explain to me the reason for the delay and i am eager to find out the reason
    anyone has tis problem

  11. Agree with Bekay…my Escape in 2005 have even more basic stuff than Tucs (pricier but may be coz its 2.3l) and i did okie….can’t even play MP3 !!!

Not sure if most SUVs have auto-lock n bluetooth coz historically SUVs for off-roading crowd…only recent years manufacturers are moving into more lux n tech stuffs to cater for the urban market but guess it takes time (and $$$) to shift into such areas in M’sia.

Only setback for Tucs is the LONG waiting period…my Tucs has been in “labour” for 3 months and still no sign of “delivery date”…heard that ppl who book now gotta wait 6 months!!!

  12. So far as the price Hyundai Tucson is concern suitable in malaysia.if we see the featur of Tucson it is well in economically in market.

  13. Thanks guys for the great insights.. I’m sure the rest of The Wheel Deal readers really appreciate the info shared. Keep on sharing and reading our The Wheel Deal!

  14. First of all I have booked a Tucson this early this month.

Cynthia I agreed with you about the Auto Door Locking thing. Its crucial for safety. Something that I dont understand why Hyundai or HSDM didnt install it. Like you said its a basic safety feature. The bluetooth function is also nice to have but not so important.

But overall Tucson is still a very nice car to have. Just have to remember to always use the central locking button lor. After a while you will automatically press the button once you got into the car.

I only knew about the minus auto lock feature after my booking. I took for granted that it would have that feature since its about RM140k car. Anyway even if the Glenmarie SA were to inform us about this, my wife would still go ahead with the booking. As her current 13 yrs old RAV4 doesnt equip with auto locking.

Regarding bluetooth the SA did inform me when I asked her. Well to be fair to the SA, they will only tell you the good things about the car. No sales person will tell you the negative part.

To me Tucson is still a value for money buy. Hopefully our M’sian mindset about Korean cars will change then Korean cars wont suffer bad resale value.

  15. Cynthia ng says:

This is about the Malaysian version of the Hyundai Tucson 2.0. I took posession of my car about a month ago from this Hyundai outlet at Glenmarie, Shah Alam and was obviously very excited about the car, after all the earlier rave reviews.

At RM 136 K and probably the top range of Hyundai cars at the the moment, I felt shortchanged by the dealer. Undisclosed at the time of purchase is the fact that the car has been stripped of some very basic features and convenience that comes almost as a standard, even with cars like MYVI!

It’s a shame to divulge that this car does not come with the auto speed locking feature which is so crucial for safety, especially to the lady drivers! Let alone the bluetooth convenience for handsfree mobile communication!

Yesterday, my girlfriend asked me about the car and when she heard about this, she immediately held back her plan to book the car!

A car dealer must be responsible to their buyers, otherwise, one bad experience by any buyer can cause a mount of bad wipes for the brand! Don’t be pennywise, pound foolish!
