Smart for two - internal structure

Daimler AG has come up with a vehicle that has smaller capacity when it comes to its occupants which is the - ‘Smart for two’. I was given the privilege and experience of driving one of these cute and extravagant vehicles. As a matter of fact, this is currently my ride. It was labeled as – ‘microcar’ and was originally founded as  joint venture by ‘Swatch’ and Daimler-Benz, and became wholly subsidiary of the latter by 1998. The vehicle’s logo denotes a letter – C and an arrow pointing forward. C – Stands for Compact and the arrow pointing ahead expresses ‘forward thinking’. Read more

Survolt carries the performance of a sports car and as much as it is not that easy to believe, but this car is powered by all- electric power train. In other words, it is an electric vehicle combining the routine of a sports car and at the same time environmental friendly. During the late nineties, Alfa Romeo fell in deep trouble. Sales were down and they were lacking a killer model which appealed to the masses rather than just the usual Alfa faithful. Poor build quality had ruined their reputation and electrical and rust problems seemed to be the final nails in the coffin.  Luckily for them they had a savior up their sleeves. Read more

Car myths – Tried and debunked

A comedian once said that ‘rules were meant to be broken’. This is to state that humans are prone to go against regulations, laws, restrictions and border lines just for the fun of it. And the same goes for me as i went on my very own myth-busting tour on the past week, all for the name of researching some very absurd myths about cars that I’ve heard ever since i knew what a car was. Before i go on, mind you that some things that i am about to mention is dangerous and should not be attempted at any place at any given time. Read more

VW Takeover Italdesign Guigaro – No One Will be Fired Claims Italdesign

May 26, 2010 by Malaysia Used Cars · Leave a Comment
Filed under: News and Opinions

In a move to allay fears of employees of Italdesign Guigaro – a world reknown automobile designer based in Turin, Italy – the company has declared that the takeover from the VW group will not result in anybody getting the axe or a stifling of their current creative freedom. Italdesign first worked with the VW group on the design of the Volkswagen Golf mk1 back in the ’70s.

The takeover bid, amount undisclosed, but we know is for a 90.1% stake in the company (whilst the Guigaro family holds on to the remainder) is now subject to regulatory approval. What this means is that Italdesign will soon be severing ties with other car makers it designs for. BMW is one such marquee. The company will be subsumed under Lamborghini Holdings, a company parked under the VW group’s umbrella.

In a bid to become the world’s largest automobile manufacturer by 2018, this move will no doubt lead to the introduction of sexier looking machines in VW’s future lineup

Honda Civic + Subaru Impreza WRX

We love the design of the 5th Generation Honda Civic, especially the hatchback model. We love the AWD Subaru Impreza WRX. What you are looking on above is the Civic with the heart of a Subaru Impreza WRX.

This is simply an art by putting a wrecked Subaru Impreza, looks like the second generation WRX (no mention of STi Model, but good enough). Getting a stronger engine, with a AWD into the body of Honda Civic will be the dream of many Civic owners. This is most probably a Turbo-charged 227 hp AWD engine compare to the fastest Honda B16A that provides 160hp for this Civic.

Take a look at this Car in this video

Detail of this project can be found at this forum.

Why Do Car Batteries Die?

May 25, 2010 by Malaysia Used Cars · 3 Comments
Filed under: Helpful Tips

I’m sure many of you have been inconvenienced at least once with a car that’s unable to start due to battery problems. And these things seem to have a knack of happening just when you have somewhere important to go to. Here’s a list of common reasons for a battery to flat dead on you:

1. Age

Batteries tend to have an average lifespan of 2-3 years. It is advisable to change your battery at 2.5 years but you should perform battery checks from about 1.5 years onwards. Aged batteries lose their abilities to hold its charge and therefore jump starting is just a temporary solution for you to get to the mechanics to have a new one replace the old guard.

2. Human Negligence

This is by far the most common reason. Left your lights on overnight? Wake up in the morning all dressed up for work and your car just won’t start? Some cars have built in light indicators to signal to the driver that the lights are switched on even after the keys are taken out from the ignition. Whilst this is helpful technology, there are those who leave their interior lights on by accident and that sucks the battery’s charge too

3. Faulty Battery

This happened to me once with a Proton and to my frustration I was blamed by the mechanic there for not admitting to having turned on the lights. Instead of giving me a direct replacement which I requested for, he told me he’d charge the battery and I had to wait a full 2 hrs. When the two hours were up, he came and said ‘Look, I replaced the battery already’ and walked away curtly. When I asked him why he had done that, he merely muttered under his breath ‘battery faulty lah’

World Speed Record – Of a Lawnmower

4 years ago, a guy from the USA drove a modified lawnmower at 80.792mph (129kmh) on the Bonneville Flats. It blasted him into the Guiness Books for the fastest speed record on a lawnmower. Now, while some may be wondering the reason behind such an attempt, there is now another attempt to clinch that record by a margin of more than 25%. Read more
